Annie & Max’s Wedding

Before I start this blog post, I need to apologize.  I’m apologizing for the length of this blog.  There are so many facets to this wedding, that I don’t want to leave any out and due to that, this just may be a novel. I would have said most of this at the wedding, but due to the emotions of the day and being 35 weeks pregnant, I just couldn’t get anything out without blubbering.  So, I’m sorry, but please enjoy!

The couple:

I will start with the bride and about 19 years ago.  It was the summer before Fourth grade and I was at one of my brother’s baseball games.  There was another little girl at the game, but I really don’t remember there being too much conversation.  What I do remember is a foul ball flying over the fence and this girl and I both going after it.  We didn’t just run after it, we tackled one another, rolled around on the ground and fought for this ball.  In the end, I came out with the ball and the best friend anyone could ask for.  Her name is Annie.

Annie and I completed school together, all the way through college.  While in college, she joined the Air Force ROTC.  Once graduation came upon us, Annie left town to start with all of her training.  (She flies helicopters.)  Even with much distance between us, we always stayed in touch.  We have one of those friendships that no matter how much time goes by, we can just pick up where we left off and it is as if no time has passed at all.

Flash forward to December 2008.  Annie came home for Christmas and with her came a young man named Max.  We had planned to meet up downtown and just in case I couldn’t get in touch with her, I was given Max’s number.  Well, it turns out, I needed it.  After trying Annie about 6 times, I called Max.  I asked where they were and he told me the Zebra.  I said “there is no way you are at the Zebra because that is where I’m at.”  He was sure that was where they were, but I was still doubting this.  I stepped out to look around and I saw this guy on the phone, looking at me, as I looked him.  It was Max, I just knew it.  He walked up to me, gives me this huge hug and says “I don’t even know you and I already love you!”  Its no rolling on the ground for a baseball type meeting, but still very memorable!

The location:

This was my first destination wedding.  The destination was Lake Lure, North Carolina.  There was talk about getting married on Chimney Rock, but changed the location to this cute little place called Geneva.  For those of you out there that know about a little movie called Dirty Dancing, well, Lake Lure is where the infamous lift in the water took place.  This just happens to be my all time favorite movie, so for my first destination wedding, this was the best place!  My mini-Graceland!  Also, North Carolina is gorgeous!  It is so lush and green.  I couldn’t have picked a better location myself.

The wedding:

Both Annie and Max are in the Air Force, so that meant that there were quite a few Air Force and other military officers at the wedding.  It makes you feel very proud to be amongst these individuals who are helping keep us safe.  Even though they are representing different branches of military, there is an amazing bond that they share.  It is infectious!  And you can’t have an Air Force wedding without a little sing-song from Top Gun.  Yes, they sang You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling to the bride!

Now, I think it is time to end my little story and allow you to see this amazing couple.  Annie and Max, I love you both more than I can say!  I wish you nothing but happiness and safety in your journey together.  Thank you for sharing your day with me and I look forward to the rest of our lives!  xoxo

Aaron & Alex’s E-shoot

Sunday morning Brent and I got together with his cousin Aaron and his fiancée Alex for an engagement shoot.  They will be getting married next June at Wildflower Weddings in Red Lodge, MT.  It was a nice, relaxing session with a very easy going couple.  We talked how they met, which was in the Navy and then about the details of the wedding.  It sounds like this is going to be a very intimate day for them.  After seeing pictures of the location, we now have so many ideas for this wedding.  Too bad we have to wait!  Congratulations Aaron and Alex!  We are looking forward to next June!

Tasha & Anthony’s Wedding

When we hear that Friday the 13th is coming, most people associate it with bad luck.  Some people even suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia which is the fear of Friday the 13th.  This wasn’t the case for my friend Tasha.  She decided to plan her wedding on this day even though these superstitions surround it.  When I awoke Friday morning, the sky was gray and the rain was coming down.  It didn’t look as though the rain was going to let up.  The wedding was later in the evening, so I had my fingers crossed that the sun would come out for this wonderful couple.  Sure enough, the sun cooperated and we had a beautiful wedding!  I guess rain doesn’t equal bad luck on a wedding day!

In their engagement post, I mentioned that Tasha and I have been friends since we were in high school.  I haven’t known Anthony that long and what I just learned was that Anthony was originally set up with Tasha’s sister.  Obviously they didn’t hit it off, but he and Tasha did!  After living with one another for 13 months, they began to date and the rest is history.  It’s funny how things work out!  I’m sure glad that they worked out the way they did and we were there to share this day with these two.  Congratulations Tasha and Anthony!  Thank you for sharing your day with us and we look forward to sharing your future!

Sarah & Phil’s Wedding

This past Saturday, Brent and I had the honor of photographing Sarah and Phil’s wedding.  We met back in May for their engagement pictures and the weather wasn’t very cooperative.  Luckily, Saturday was a much nicer day. Our friend, Wind, did manage to come out and play a little bit, but nothing like before.

These two have great personalities and Phil can make you laugh without really trying.  They were so comfortable and relaxed, they made our job easy.  I love being apart of a wedding!  It is such a happy time!  It seems that once the bride and groom see each other, they are at ease and want to enjoy their day.  I know this is true of these two.  They compliment each other and enjoyed their day!  Congratulations Sarah and Phil!  Here’s to many happy, laughter filled years together!

Amber & Adam’s Wedding

Probably the biggest fear for a bride is rain on her wedding day.  Now, I’ve been told that rain actually means good wealth, so if it pours, you will be rich.  If there is any truth to this, I guess only time will tell.  For Amber and Adam, the last thing they wanted was rain and the one thing they got, was rain!  Not just once, but about four times throughout the day the showers came.  Even with this extra moisture, we still had a beautiful day and the greenery around was that much more green once the rain went away.

I introduced you to Amber and Adam back in February with their engagement pictures.  They love each other so much and then when you bring their families and friends into the picture, you are surrounded by this warmth.  You can’t help but feel the love!  Instead of the traditional best man, maid of honor speeches, each attendant in the wedding party took a moment to say something to the couple.  At the very end, Amber’s dad stood up and said a few words.  “This isn’t the happiest day of your life.  The happiest day of your life is when your child finds the one they want to spend the rest of their life with.” Needless to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Congratulations Amber and Adam!  We feel blessed to have shared this day with you, not only capturing your memories, but making memories with our friends!  Here’s to your future!

Tawnie & Randy’s Wedding

Saturday afternoon, Brent and I headed up to Big Sky to the Soldiers Chapel for Tawnie and Randy’s wedding.  It has a perfect view of Lone Peak and made for a wonderful setting.  Tawnie and Randy decided to keep it traditional and didn’t see one another until Tawnie was walking down the aisle.  There is just something magical about that moment when you finally get to see each other all dressed up.  Its almost like seeing one another for the first time.

You can feel the love when around Tawnie and Randy.  They love to be together and to be with their families and friends.  From the first meeting to saying goodbye, they have a way of making you feel as though you have been apart of their lives forever.

Thank you for welcoming us into your lives and allowing us to share this wonderful day with you!  Here’s to your journey together!

Jessica & Dustin’s Wedding

I love when couples know exactly what they want.  Jessica and Dustin wanted to get married outside and they wanted it simple.  That is exactly what they got.  Jessica and Dustin have been together for 10 years.  They decide to make it official in front of their families and friends on July 15, 2010.  Both enjoy the outdoors spending much of their time hunting and fishing, so the Spanish Creek Forest Service area was a perfect location for them.  There was a beautiful open space with a great view of the mountains!

Jessica and Dustin are absolutely adorable together.  Even after 10 years, they still get that twinkle in their eyes when they see each other!

We wish you two all the best and hope you still have that twinkle in 50!  Congratulations!

Anthony & Tasha’s Engagement

I love my friends and I especially love when they are happy and in love.  There is that excitement when you meet someone new and the excitement as the relationship grows and then the excitement when they tell you they are getting married.  I have been friends with Tasha for about nine years now.  I was actually with her the very night that I met Brent and now my friend is getting married and I couldn’t be more thrilled that she chose us to photograph her wedding!  They will be getting married in August so we got together this past weekend for a little engagement shoot.  I love when you look at a couple and just know that they love each other so much, that they are relaxed and its as if we aren’t even there.  We had a beautiful day and a fun location.  Congrats Tasha and Anthony!  We look forward to August and sharing your day!  For now, here are a few moments captured so far!

Aurora & Travis’ Wedding

On Saturday, Brent and I got to take a nice drive out of town to Mill Creek.  We were lucky enough to photograph Aurora and Travis on their wedding day at Aurora’s parents place.  Their property is located right on Mill Creek and the area is just beautiful.  Beautiful location for a beautiful couple.  Aurora is this very soft spoken, shy girl who really doesn’t like to be the center of attention.  On your wedding day, it is hard not to be the center, but you would have never known that she was shy.  Maybe that is because as soon as she was with Travis, her eyes would light up and she looked completely at ease.  Except for a few sprinkles in the morning, the day was perfect for a wedding.  But don’t take my word for it, take a peek at the pictures.

Pumpkin Picking

Sunday, we took our first trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin or two.  If kids show up in their costume, they get a free pumpkin and I just couldn’t resist not dressing Mallory up.  There was pumpkin picking, face painting, apple cider making, and just plain family fun!  We have a great time and here are few pictures from our fun morning.

A pumpkin just her size!
